What Sarah Says:
As a loss and bereavement counsellor, I understand the profoundly unique impact that grief following the death of a loved one can have on us. Your uniqueness means that I cannot provide a definitive list of what will help you nor can I tell you what to do. However, it can be helpful to talk about your relationship with that person and others and how their death is impacting you. I will provide you with a compassionate, non-judgemental, supportive space where together we can explore your feelings of loss and give your grief the time and attention it deserves.
Non-death Loss/Living Loss:
Being able to identify and name other life experiences as losses worthy of grief can be an important part of healing. For example, the end of a relationship, future plans such as having children, or the loss of good health.
In todays' fast-paced world, our experiences of loss are quickly pushed aside as we are forced to ‘get on with it'.
Talking about how you are feeling can help you to gain clarity and understanding, increased self-awareness and although talking won't ‘fix' the problems, it makes it easier to face them.
